The romance continues

l-r: Hema Malini, Raj Kanwar and Dharmendra on the sets of Sadiyaan

Hema could not believe her eyes when she saw Dharmendra walk into the studio.

Raj Kanwar, the director of Sadiyaan, says, “It was a big surprise for all of us to see Dharamji at ND Studios. Hemaji was very touched by his gesture. She told me that it was after years that Dharamji had come to watch her while she was shooting.”

He adds, “We were shooting a wedding scene in a haveli. My film’s lead pair, Luv Sinha and Farina Vajir was shooting with Hemaji. Dharamji became very emotional as old memories came rushing back as soon as he saw the wedding scene. He said that it reminded him of his days in Punjab where weddings used to take place in a similar fashion.”

The wedding sequence was a typically big Indian affair where all the relatives and friends were also present. Kanwar says, “The wedding sequence had all the elements of the typical Indian wedding. It was like a big family reunion as Rekhaji and Rishi Kapoor, who are a part of the film, were also present on the sets. Dharamji is in very good terms with Rekhaji, Rishi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha’s family.”

Talking about his personal equation with the actor, Kanwar says, “Dharamji and I have been family friends for a long time. That day, he stayed on the sets for more than two hours. He was being his usual jovial self and cracked a few jokes. He sat with me on the monitor watching each and every scene. He also knew a lot about the film as Hemaji had already discussed the storyline with him.”
